Construction Worker Injured In Fall From I-91 Overpass

The Brattleboro Reformer reports that a construction worker, fell off a Route 5 bridge over I-91 in Putney on Friday around 09:50am. A mobile phone call at 9:50 a.m. alerting State Police to the accident.

The man, an employee of J.A. McDonald, was wearing a harness and lanyard, but was not clipped in to the guide wire. He sustained head, neck and back injuries in the fall. A helicopter airlifted him to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Vermont State Police are withholding the man’s name, pending notification of his family. The newspaper report says he was conscious and able to speak when emergency responders arrived.

Local Teacher Quits School To Link Farmers to Schools

A year ago, Hans Estrin, a local schoolteacher, frustrated with policies that ignored local produce, quit his teaching job and started a new business to help get more local produce into local diets.

This is a problem all over the US, which causes massive transportation costs to be added to prices. It is about time more people started seeing great stories like this.
